The Major and Minor League Poker Games

If a private poker game isn't enough for you, then you can organize a major and minor league games if you're really that confident to compete with other players. You can organize a league competition as a kind of baseball farm-system rules in them.

The Major League Games

In a major league games, there is no doubt that here's where the big boys play. These are the games with the highest stakes. To any pro like yourself, this would prove as the most valuable to your poker education. If you want to put up a major league game, bear three things in mind when choosing players. It's either: 1) they have a lot of dough to burn. 2) They're compulsive gamblers, and 3) they're players who are "trying a night with lady luck" in playing the big game. As much as possible, don't let good players play. At least, know your opponents' winning/losing reputations before accepting them to play in the leagues so that you'll get a head start of who you're going to deal with.

In a major league game, be the one who does the pushing the pace and stakes of the game. Go for the maximum whenever possible. Remember that the size and the health of the major league game you've put up depends on the number of poor players you've welcomed to join and their financial reputation.

The Minor League Games

However, the more important function of the minor league is the screening of players. You have to choose among your minor leaguers would fit best in high-stakes game. The minor league is also the venue to break new players (e.g. those players who don't want to play high stakes suddenly get the confidence because they win at the minor leagues. In time, they become bored with low-stakes game).

The minor league can also be a testing ground to develop new players. It's here that you can enhance your skills better without risking big money. And it's also here where you can modify your tactics and ploys that would be valuable when you're in the major leagues. The minor league is also a setting to win money from poor players who really don't intend to play with high stakes game. And finally, minor league games are the so-called resting place by players, who just recently lost in the major leagues, and therefore, just want to play low-stake games.
