Poker chip tricks are quintessential distractions that players get into at the game table. Whether it's to calm themselves or to intimidate their opponents or for any other reason - tricks with chips are always fun to do and watch. Chip acrobatics during a game generally employs just one hand where the fingers do all the work. The thumb flip poker trick (or the thumb flick) is where you use the thumb to roll a chip and flick it to the back of the stack. And here're two easy steps of the thumb flip poker chip trick.
Step 1 is when you get a short stack of three to four chips to start off. Grab the stack and make sure that the index and ring fingers are more in control of holding it. Position your hand sideways so that the thumb can rest on the other side of the stack. When you feel comfortable in that position that the poker chip stack won't be going anywhere, relax the hold on the first chip so that the thumb has more control over it.
Step 2 is rolling that first poker chip over the middle chips upward and pushing it down to the back of the stack. The thumb does most of the work here so you're going to have to do this over and over again so that the motion will almost be instinctive.
The gist of the thumb flip poker trick is to seamlessly flip that first chip over the middle chips and landing it on the ring finger towards the end of the stack. Now, you'll have to roll the chip up against the index finger with your thumb and turn it over against the edge of the other chips. And then, you'll drag it down to the end of the short stack with your thumb - that completes the thumb flip poker chip trick. You'll have to do this over and over again with next chip and the next one to achieve that fluid motion.
Depending on what feels more comfortable to hold as aforementioned in the first step - as bigger hands have more control over a five or six-piece stack as opposed to three or four - the objective of the poker trick to have complete control over the chips with just three fingers. Those are the ring finger, index finger and the valuable opposing thumb in one hand. Just roll the first poker chip up and flick or flip it over others then drag it down to the end of the row in accordance with the second step. And that's how the two easy steps of the thumb flip poker chip trick go down.
